Creativity is an essential part of our human experience. Yet, in socio-economically disadvantaged communities, it is often forgotten. As is the conversation of mental health in childhood. Allowing children the space to learn coping strategies can also help with anxiety in adult life by cultivating an understanding of a safe space within themselves. The idea of developing grounding methods earlier in life through the creative process will make integration into adulthood easier, as it becomes their nature.

As an interior designer, I see design as a process of personal and collective expansion. In a world where spirit and character shape how we experience reality, interior design becomes a tool for healing and transformation. The spaces we inhabit can reflect and restore who we are — and who we are becoming. To design with that in mind is to expand not only yourself, but everyone your work touches.
